Principal's Report

Dear families and friends,

What an amazing day we had last Thursday for the annual MPW Show Day.  It was a sunny day, and our students again demonstrated their creativity and innovation with their Show Day activities and stalls.  The afternoon was engaging, some activities were even challenging, and everyone had a great time. We also had some adorable entries in the ‘best dressed’ competition, with creative vegetable/fruit creations and dressed up toys.

Thank you to JSC, staff and students for their organisational efforts leading up to and on the day.  Show Day concluded with the dunk tank, where some students had the opportunity to dunk Jessie, Anna, Kristy and myself.

Year 2 Sleepover

We held a very successful Year 2 Sleepover on Friday night.  Students returned after school for a pizza dinner, a magic show from Tim Credible, Spotlight Tiggy on the Tiger Turf and then settling in for bedtime. We even managed to see Venus in the night sky, which was a great opportunity.

A fantastic, fun night was had by all.  I would like to thank the year 1/2 teachers and the administration staff for their planning and work behind the scenes to make sure we had a smooth and successful night.

The camping program concludes in the middle of the term, with the F/1 activity night. This is where our F/1 students return after school for an activity and dinner. We will confirm the date with our F/1 families once finalised.

I acknowledge and thank all the teachers and staff involved in the camping program this year, as the experience gained in these events is well worth the effort.

Check out some photos from the Sleepover below, including some photos of the school at night.

Parent Survey Reminder

A reminder that the Parent Survey is open until Friday 18th September. You will have received an email with login details, and we encourage you to complete this as it will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The survey is being conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete.

Term 4 Fundraising Event

As you will be aware, we will not be holding the Trivia Night this year. Instead, we will be holding an onsite community fundraising event at the end of the year on December 11th. This will be an opportunity for the family to have a fun night to celebrate the end of the year.

The fundraising committee are currently working through the logistics of this event, but we are aiming for some food and drink stalls, some music and some light entertainment for the kids (maybe a jumping castle).  There is a save the date poster and more information in the Fundraising section of the newsletter.

End of term reminders

Friday is the last day of term. A reminder that assembly will be at 9:05am on Friday morning, and we have a dismissal time of 2.30pm.

On Friday, JSC have organised for a ‘Footy Colours Day’. Students can wear the colours of their favourite footy team (this can be AFL, Soccer or any type of football). This is a fun way to end the term, and acknowledge the upcoming AFL finals over the break.

I hope you have an enjoyable school holiday period, and look forward to seeing you all when Term 4 commences on Monday 5th October.

Regards,

Jarrod
