News from around the school

Updates from our Pastoral Groups (Units)

Prep News:

As part of our Inquiry unit ‘I Belong’, the Preps have been exploring a range of celebrations from around the world. We have been learning about birthdays, Shrove Tuesday, Diwali, Ramadan, NAIDOC Week, Easter and Holi, to name just a few.

As we investigated these special times, we noticed many similarities. So many celebrations include special foods, time with family, decorations, community gatherings, music and sometimes even fireworks.

While we may celebrate different events and traditions, we discovered there are many overlapping features that connect us. Our learning has helped us see that even in our differences, we all belong.

St Mel's Breaky Club:

Come for breaky… second breakfast… or even third breakfast — all are welcome!

This week, our new Foundation students enjoyed trying out Breakfast Club for the first time and it’s safe to say they absolutely loved it! There were smiles, full tummies and a wonderful sense of community to start the day.

Breakfast Club is a beautiful way to gather, connect and ensure everyone begins the morning feeling nourished and ready to learn.

We look forward to welcoming more students as we continue to grow this special initiative.
