Red Class

Mrs Wheeler & Meaghan

K/1 students have been engaging in a range of exciting learning experiences across literacy and numeracy. In writing, students are using prompts to support the development of descriptive sentences, helping them to expand their ideas and build confidence as writers.

They are continuing to learn and consolidate their understanding of sounds and letter names, with a strong focus on recognising and applying these in their reading and writing. Sight words are improving steadily, and daily practice at home will further support fluency and confidence.

In mathematics, students are developing their counting skills by counting forwards and backwards, as well as exploring patterns using counters to support early addition concepts. Hands-on activities are helping students to build strong foundational understandings in a fun and engaging way.

Fine motor development continues to be an important focus, with students participating in playdough activities, practising pencil grip, and completing colouring tasks to support their handwriting. These skills are coming along well, and students are showing increasing control and confidence in their writing.

Fitness sessions are providing a valuable opportunity for students to build teamwork and cooperation, while also supporting their physical development. Socially, students are settling well into routines, forming positive friendships, and continuing to develop their ability to work and play collaboratively with others.
