Term 4 - Week 3

Dear Families

We are already three weeks into Term 4, and as always, the final term of the year is moving quickly. It is a fast paced, exciting time at St Kilian's, filled with learning, celebrations, special events, and important milestones as we bring another successful year to a close.

Many families have been asking about the new turf, and I'm pleased to report that it is thriving in the recent beautiful weather. To ensure the grass establishes strong roots and remains in excellent condition for years to come, we have made the decision to keep the area closed a little longer before opening it for student use. We appreciate your patience and know the students are looking forward to enjoying this fantastic new space. Works have also commenced on our new playground project, and we are excited to watch its progress over the coming weeks.

While our focus remains firmly on making the most of the opportunities Term 4 provides, planning for 2027 is already well underway. This includes staffing, educational programs, school improvement priorities, and a range of initiatives designed to support the continued growth and success of our students. As always, planning is undertaken in line with CESL requirements and the provisions of the CEMEA 2022 employment agreement. Information regarding class structures, staffing, and other arrangements for 2027 will be shared with families through our usual communication channels and timelines.

As we move through the term, a few reminders will help ensure students continue to thrive:

  • SunSmart: With warmer weather returning, school hats are required every day for outdoor activities and play. Please ensure your child brings their hat to school.
  • Stay Informed: Please check Simon Everywhere and the Term 4 School Calendar regularly for key dates, excursions, celebrations, and graduation events.
  • Finish Strong: Consistent attendance, good routines, and punctuality play an important role in maintaining student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement through to the end of the year.

I continue to be proud of the growth, effort, and achievements of our students throughout 2026 and look forward to celebrating many more successes with our community in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.

Bendigo Cup Public Holiday

A reminder to families that Wednesday 28 October is the Bendigo Cup Public Holiday. School will be closed on this day.

Term 4 Pupil Free Day

Please note that Monday 2 November is a Pupil Free Day. Students are not required to attend school on this day.

Enrolments for 2027

Planning for the 2027 school year is already underway.

If your child will not be returning to St Kilian's in 2027, we ask that you please notify the school office as soon as possible. This information is invaluable in assisting with class organisation, staffing, and future planning.

We also encourage families who may be considering St Kilian's for 2027 to contact the school office to discuss enrolment opportunities. Early enquiries help us plan effectively and ensure a smooth enrolment process for new families.

School Uniform

We appreciate the support of families in ensuring students wear the correct school uniform each day.

A strong and consistent uniform promotes a sense of pride, belonging, and identity within our school community. We have noticed a small number of non-uniform items appearing recently and ask families to assist us in maintaining our high standards.

Uniform items can be purchased through the school and ordered via QKR.

School Supervision Hours

Before School

For student safety, please be aware that school supervision commences at 8:30am. Students should not arrive at school before this time unless they are attending a supervised program.

After School

The school day concludes at 3:15pm. Students should be collected promptly at dismissal time. If you anticipate being delayed, please contact the school office.

Families requiring care outside school hours are encouraged to access the YMCA Before and After School Care Program, which provides supervised care before school and after dismissal.

Parents & Friends Association

Our Parents & Friends Association continues to make a significant contribution to the life of our school through community events, volunteer support, and fundraising activities.

We are grateful for the generosity, time, and commitment of our parent volunteers, whose efforts help strengthen the connections that make St Kilian's such a welcoming and vibrant community.

I encourage families to keep an eye on the Parents & Friends section of this newsletter for upcoming events and opportunities to become involved.

Kind regards,

Peter Teggelove

Principal
