Spotlight on learning in 4LD

Year 4 Spotlight on Learning
Year 4 students have been busy learning, creating and making a difference in our school community! As part of their Mini Vinnies initiative, students led an Operation Blanket Day, raising awareness of the importance of charity, kindness and supporting people in need.
Students took part in activities that encouraged generosity and reminded us of the difference we can make when we help others.
In class, students have been exploring the different types of matter, including solids, liquids and gases. They enjoyed making oobleck, a mixture of cornflour and water that can act like both a solid and a liquid. Students had fun squeezing, touching and experimenting with the mixture as they discovered how it changed when they applied pressure.
It has been great to see Year 4 students learning through hands-on activities while showing care for others and curiosity about the world around them.
Read what our Year 4 students had to say about their learning and what they discovered through these activities and what fun we had.
Today we learnt about oobleck. It was really fun to play with it. Everyone had heaps of fun trying to squish and poke into the oobleck. We learnt that it's hard to push or mix quickly, but if you do it more slowly it will be easier to push. This is because of the force compressing on it.
So on the 26/10 /2026 we made oobleck it was really fun, here are the ingredients:
- 400 to 500g of corn flour
-300g of water after ad food dye
