Please 'Shut the Gate'

You may have noticed these new signs on our school gates. However, they are not really working as well as we hoped! Could you please help us by ensuring the school gates are shut each time you go through, even if they are open when you have come through them? Thank you for helping keep all the children and visiting toddlers safe.

Monty the Monstar Colour Run

Something colourful is coming in Term 2… that’s right, the Colour Run is back for 2026! 🌈

On Friday 27th May, we’re turning up the fun (and the colour!) with a Monty the Monstar Colour Run. This year we’re raising funds for brand new nature play pods for our playground, to play in, decorate, and make our own.

From Friday 10th April, students will be able to set up a profile to collect online donations and unlock prizes. Every student who creates a profile will get their own sunnies and headband for the big day, and just $10 raised earns their first prize. While we officially kick off in Term 2, we encourage any students who'd like to get started to jump in early. We'll share more information in the first week back!

To create a profile, head to myprofilepage.com.au and follow the instructions attached. Once you're set up, share the link with family and friends to collect online donations. Fundraising is open from 10th April - 1st June.

And yes… there may be some slime‑related milestone surprises along the way. Teachers, staff, Margie... consider yourselves warned.

Most importantly, this event is for every student to enjoy, whether or not they fundraise. We also know not all kids can (or want to) be covered in colour, and that’s totally fine - we'll have options to ensure this is an inclusive event.

More details coming soon - stay tuned!

Transporting Students for Excursions by car

From time to time, we require adult volunteers to drive students in Years 3 and above to local excursions and events. This is most common for nearby destinations (such as Cleland) or when a small group of students need transport (such as SAPSASA sporting events).

To ensure the safety of all students, our permission forms have been updated to include important information about child restraints and safety requirements. Information about the models of vehicles being used is now included on the permission forms so that parents can make an informed safety decision. We ask all parents to review the current South Australian guidelines on seatbelts and child restraints, which can be found at: www.mylicence.sa.gov.au/roadrules/seatbelts-and-child-restraints.

If your child normally requires a booster seat or restraint:

  • Please inform your child’s teacher prior to the excursion.
  • On the day of the excursion, you must be available to ensure the restraint is properly installed.

We are committed to supporting all families to ensure correct restraints are used when your child travels with other adults as part of school events. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher so we can assist you.

Thank you for helping us keep every child safe.

Dogs

Many schools don't allow dogs on their grounds. At Uraidla Primary School we love welcoming dogs! However, we are mindful of keeping everyone safe and comfortable around dogs. Due to this, we ask that if you bring a dog onto the school grounds, you keep to the school oval side of the paths, so children and adults can approach safely and pass without disturbance. We also feel this is better for the dogs, so they don't get overwhelmed and startled by the loud noises and large amounts of people. Please always keep your dog on a lead in and around the school grounds, including the carpark area by the town oval where there are often small children. Thank you for your consideration and for adhering to our guidelines for allowing dogs to continue coming to Uraidla.

Uraidla Primary Facebook Group

If you haven’t already heard about it, there is a Facebook group for UPS families, and we welcome everyone to join (parents/grandparents/carers all welcome). Look for “Uraidla Primary School Families” and answer the 3 simple questions on your connection to the school. This group is a friendly way to find the answers for those questions you may have (e.g. when your child tells you at the last minute its casual day tomorrow, and you can’t remember hearing about it from school!), to get reminders on events coming up, find your lost property!, or a way to connect with other families.

It is not run by the school but is supported by the UPS Governing Council, and parent admin (Jodi Braley) will post information regularly. It is designed to be a group with input from all – so contribute in any way you want to. If you do have a question that you don’t want to post yourself, feel free to forward to Jodi (either by facebook message, email jodi.braley@hotmail.com, or in person at school), who is more than happy to help.

Enrolment in Reception

If you have a child turning 5 in the next 12 months, they should have already enrolled to start school.  Children either start school at the start of the year or in July, depending on their age.

Our school has now reached capacity, which means that we give priority enrolment to children in our catchment area. Please note that younger siblings of existing students are guaranteed enrolment.

If you are speaking to other families about enrolling in school, they can find their local school through the Find My School website: Find a school zone or preschool catchment area (education.sa.gov.au)

Enrolments for mid-2026 are now overdue, and we hope to have enrolments for 2027 finalised by June. Please contact the front office for a registration of interest form today!

If you are still unsure or interested in booking a school tour, please contact the office on 8390 3209.
