Maroondah Girls AFL Gala Day:

On Friday 24th April, three POPS teams competed in the Maroondah Division Girls AFL 9v9 Gala Day at Manson Reserve, Wantirna. It was a beautiful autumn day, providing perfect conditions for footy.

All three teams played three pool games, followed by finals and consolation matches in the afternoon.

POPS 1 had an outstanding day, winning all three of their pool games to finish on top of their group. They then defeated Ringwood North PS by 8 points in the semi-final before going on to win a thrilling Grand Final against Ringwood Heights PS by 5 points, with a final score of 11–6. This result means POPS 1 will now progress to the Eastern Region finals.

POPS 2 also performed strongly, winning two of their three pool games to finish second in their pool. They went on to win their consolation match against Mullum Mullum PS 1 with an impressive 40–0 result.

POPS 3 had a fantastic start, winning all three of their pool games. They finished the day with a fun consolation match against St Patrick’s PS.

All of the girls represented the school with great enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and most importantly, had a wonderful day.

A big thank you to Mr Edgcumbe and Mr Cornwell for coaching, and to the parents who came along to score, support, and cheer on the teams.

House Cross Country:

To ensure the smooth running of this event and increase student safety, we require parent helpers to supervise during the walk to and from Domeney Reserve and to assist with marshalling at various checkpoints around the course (Domeney Reserve and through the 100 Acres) and at the finish line.

If you’re available to assist on Tuesday 5th May, please email stephanie.carbone@education.vic.gov.au or inform the office or your child’s classroom teacher. We are unable to run this event without the support of our parent community. Thank you!
