Bonjour tout le monde

The First Week of Advent

This Sunday marks the first week of Advent, a special time in the Church when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. The first week invites us to focus on hope, trusting in God’s promise and looking forward with joy to the birth of Christ.

Our prep students led the school in a beautiful liturgy on Monday morning, that reflected on what it means to wait with hope: showing patience, being gentle with others and creating moments of quiet to listen for God’s presence. Lighting the first candle of the Advent wreath reminds us that even a small light can guide us and those around us. It was lovely to have some families join us for this time for preparation and prayer.

May this first week of Advent fill your homes with hope and anticipation as we look toward the celebration of Christmas.

Advent Liturgies

Over the next three weeks St Bede's will be gathering together in the Hall to celebrate the season of Advent. We will be led in these short reflective services by different year groups. All members of our community are more than welcome to attend these liturgies. Please see the schedule below:

Advent Liturgy Week 2 - Monday 1st December 9:00am Year 1 & 2

Advent Liturgy Week 3 - Monday 8th December 9:00am Year 3 & 4

Advent Liturgy Week 4 - Monday 15th December 9:00am Year 5 & 6

Staff Faith Development Day

The staff had a faith filled day on Monday at the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre. The life and ministry of St Mary of the Cross was explored and time was given for personal reflection. There was also time to relate the values and qualities St Mary of the Cross displayed, to our community of St Bede’s. After lunch we participated in a pilgrimage and visited St Francis’ and St Patrick’s with questions to guide our visit as well as time for prayer, contemplation and reflection.

Reminder

Just a reminder that there are building works have commenced at the Church. The driveway will not be able to be accessed to enter or exit the school. The school will be able to be accessed via the gate on the other side of the church. While they may not be onsite all day or everyday, we will continue to use the gate on the other side of the church to enter and exit the school from Severn St.

Que Dieu bénisse
