Team Vic – National School Sport Championships
A huge congratulations to Archie M (6H) and Riagan J-M (5MG), who both proudly represented Victoria at the National School Sport Championships earlier this term.
This is an outstanding achievement for both boys, with Archie selected for Soccer and Riagan for Touch Rugby after being chosen from hundreds of students who travelled across the state.
Both tournaments were held in Ballarat and featured teams from every state and territory in Australia. While Archie would have liked to secure a win, one of his highlights was scoring two goals and assisting another in his team’s thrilling 3–3 draw against Queensland, who went on to become the eventual champions. Archie also found the net in matches against the other Victorian team and the A.C.T.
Archie was extremely appreciative of the experience, gaining valuable insights from competing at such a high level alongside talented teammates and opponents. His most enjoyable moments included taking part in the opening ceremony and spending time with teammates and students from other states during organized evening activities.
Riagan’s Touch Rugby team had a similar tournament experience and recorded a win against the A.C.T. Riagan thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and learnt a great deal, particularly with the transition from tackle rugby to touch rugby. His personal highlight was delivering a long cross-field pass that led directly to a try.
Everyone at Woodlands Primary School is incredibly proud of Archie and Riagan, and we wish them all the very best in their future sporting endeavours.
Well done, Archie and Riagan!
