News from OOSH Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club!

Completely inspired and operated by the children, our Breakfast Club transforms the room into a bustling café each Friday morning. The children work together to set up tables with plates, serving utensils and menus, and even create their own pretend money to make the experience feel just like a real café.

Throughout the morning, children take on a variety of roles including chefs, waiters, cashiers and customers. They prepare and serve breakfast, take orders from the menu, handle pretend payments and provide excellent customer service—all through imaginative, child-led play.

While the children are having an amazing time, they are also developing valuable life skills. The Breakfast Club encourages communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity and leadership, while naturally supporting literacy and numeracy through reading menus, writing orders, counting money and using everyday maths.

Our educators love watching the children take ownership of the experience, supporting their ideas and extending their learning while allowing them to lead the play. It has become a wonderful example of how children learn best through meaningful, hands-on experiences that are driven by their own interests.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, cooperation and creativity our OOSH children show each Friday morning and can't wait to see how their café continues to grow!
