NAPLAN- Individual Student Reports

Throughout this coming week, we expect to receive individual student reports for NAPLAN for students in year 3 and year 5. These will be sent home with all Year 3 and 5 students along with a brochure for parents and carers explaining how to read and interpret their child’s NAPLAN report once we receive them. 

A Compass message will be sent to inform parents and carers on the day we send them home. If you are a parent or carer of a Year 3 or 5 student and don’t receive a report, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

It is important that parents and carers store these reports in a safe place for future reference, particularly if you are planning to apply at an independent school for secondary education as you will require these reports as part of the application process.

Homework and Home Reading

This Friday, all students in Years 1–6 will bring home their first lot homework for Term 3.

Homework should be returned by Thursday of the following week, signed by a parent or carer. This routine will continue throughout each school term, with new homework sent home every Friday and due back the following Thursday.

In addition to their weekly homework, all students are expected to read at home for at least 15 minutes each school night and record their reading in their Home Reading Log or diary.

Prep students’ homework consists of home reading only. As the year progresses, classroom teachers may introduce additional activities, such as phonics practice, when students are ready.

Each classroom teacher has established routines for changing home reading books and monitoring students' reading progress. If you are unsure about your child's classroom routines or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

Homework Tracking

Classroom teachers will record homework completion in Compass using the following categories:

• N/A – No homework was issued or the student was absent during the homework period.
• Not Attempted – Homework was not completed or not submitted.
• Partially Completed – Homework was only partly completed or was submitted late.
• Completed – Homework was completed and submitted on time, including home reading.

Homework records can be viewed by parents and carers through your child's Compass profile.

We encourage all parents and carers to speak with their child's classroom teacher early in the term if you have any questions about homework or home reading expectations.

Term 3 Year Level Newsletters

This week, each year level will send home its Term 3 Year Level Newsletter via Compass. These newsletters contain important information specific to your child's year level, including key dates, curriculum focuses, classroom routines, upcoming events and other information to support a successful term.

We encourage all parents and carers to take a few minutes to read the newsletter carefully and refer back to it throughout the term. If you have any questions after reading the newsletter, please don't hesitate to contact your child's classroom teacher.

Victorian High Abilities Program (VHAP)

Congratulations to the students listed below who have been selected to participate in VHAP this term in either English or Maths.  We wish them well and know they’ll do their best to make the most of this wonderful opportunity.

The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) provides extension learning opportunities for high-ability students in Years 5–6. Students are identified and invited by the Department of Education using a range of assessment data, including NAPLAN and teacher judgement, and participate in online learning designed to further challenge and extend their skills.

Swimming and Water Safety Program

Our 2026 swimming and water safety program commences later this term and early term 4. Lessons take place at the Federation University pool by qualified instructors and run for 45 minutes over a 5 day period.

More detailed information will be sent home via Compass in the coming week for parent/carer consent, along with payment details. The cost of this year’s program is $66 per child.
