Netball Grand Final glory

What an unforgettable week of Netball for St Catherine’s! We sincerely congratulate our U13 STC Lightning Premiers, on their victorious Grand Final match, winning 25 – 17. 

Winning a Grand Final, or fighting your way into one against all odds, is a wonderful accomplishment. These results are a testament to the hard work and overall success of our Netball program. We are incredibly proud of you all!

Reflection from our Head of Junior School Sport

My first term at St Catherine's has been full of joyful moments and the days have flown by as I find my feet and bring my learning curve up to speed. Thank you to the St Catherine's community for the warm welcome. The Junior School Leadership, Staff and Sport's Office have been invaluable in assisting me with the plethora of questions I have every day. An unexpected joy has been reconnecting with families I taught while I was at my former school for more than a decade. It seemed every day for the first few weeks of this term I was asked, "Mr. Mac, did you teach my brother?" It's wonderful teaching and coaching the sisters now!

PE and Sport in the Junior School are vehicles for fun, exercise, teamwork, skill development and leadership development. A forward-thinking goal that I always have in my mind is preparing the girls for GSV Sport in the Senior School. To that end, I am looking at the curriculum for the girls in Years 4-6 to see how I can more closely align PE classes to introduce the sports that the girls can try in Senior School. This term has seen growth and enjoyment in Aussie Rules Football and Hockey as two examples of our girls trying something new and challenging themselves outside the classroom. Our new Learning Moments platform also allows our parents to see in real time how their daughter is progressing in PE and Sport. 

I look forward to the challenges of second semester and the enjoyment of forging relationships with the girls. Thanks for joining me on the journey to raise healthy and happy 'blue ribboned' girls.
