Kingfisher Concert

Last week, our music students and staff delivered a wonderful Kingfisher Concert at the Albany Entertainment Centre. Performing to a packed audience, students of all ages shared their talents in an evening that celebrated creativity, growth and the joy of making music together.

More than a concert, the event reflected the heart of Great Southern Grammar: a strong sense of belonging, connection across our community and the confidence to embrace opportunities while having the courage to perform and learn.

Whole School Arts Exhibition 'Our Place'

We were delighted to share all of our students' creativity as they responded to the theme of 'Our Place' in our Whole School Arts Exhibition.

We had gorgeous chooks from Djinda, houses of Albany from Year Four, and the wind farm from Year Three. There were portraits, natural dyeing, landscapes of Albany and, in general, a wonderful celebration of the place we live, the Great Southern.

We hope you enjoy the imagery from the exhibition.

Also on display were the collagraph prints of family dinner tables created by Year Five and Six students with Artist-in-Residence Laura Newbury. Laura's artwork, Once More With Feeling, was also on display as part of the exhibition. We are hoping to raise $2,200 to purchase this piece of artwork.

VACS Showcase

This Wednesday we had one of the highlights of the year, the Arts Showcase for Values and Christian Service (VACS). Throughout the term, senior students have been spending VACS time on Wednesdays participating in various arts activities, from painting to textiles, and it has also included inter-house debating, House Band practice and a couple of rehearsals for House Singing.

On Wednesday we had the grand final of inter-house debating, with Mokare and Baudin debating the topic, 'Zoos should be banned.' It was a fantastic debate in front of the whole Secondary School. Congratulations to Baudin for coming out on top.

After that, we had the inter-house Battle of the Bands, where representatives from each House rocked and rolled their way through a medley of tunes. It was incredible to see the talent on show. Congratulations again to Baudin for winning the competition!

Finally, we were joined by students from Pre-Primary all the way up to Year Twelve for the House Singing competition. The songs were Sweet Caroline by Baudin, Take Me Home, Country Roads by Wilson, Eye of the Tiger by Mokare and Land Down Under by Camfield.

A big congratulations to Mokare for taking out the prize!

Valedictory Awards Ceremony: Community Invitation
