Years 10-12

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews
Thank you to all of the families who attended interviews on Tuesday night. It is always beneficial for staff and families to meet to discuss successes, as well as areas requiring improvement. If you were unable to attend interviews, but would like to meet with staff, please contact your child’s Teacher Advisor to make alternative arrangements.
Buloke Shire Leadership Skills Session
SLC students from Years 10-12 were invited to participate in a leadership skills-building session on Monday this week. They learnt valuable skills in running student engagement programs and learnt to increase the effectiveness with which they run their meetings. Congratulations to the Charlton College SLC, who were excellent ambassadors for our school once again. Thank you also to the Buloke Shire for providing this opportunity for our students.
End of Term 1 – Safe and Happy Holidays!
I would like to wish all families an enjoyable and restful break, and I look forward to working with you all again in Term 2. Thank you to students and parents for their contributions to various aspects across the College during the term.
Holiday Study
Many of our senior students, particularly those studying Unit 3/4 sequences, will have work to complete during the holidays. Term 2 is a very busy time and from this point forwards, the demand on students increases substantially. If students find that they have fallen behind, it is very difficult to catch up from here on in. It is therefore important that all homework and study requirements be completed so that a positive start can be assured.
Around the Classrooms
Thank you to our Year 12 students, who spent Advisory working with their Foundation buddies to create spectacular easter crowns. Thank you especially to Brooke, who represented the Year 12s in organising this activity with the Foundation class.
Year 11 Biology students started the first of a series of dissections this week – by having a go at some celery to observe the vascular tissues in plants.
Around The Classrooms
Year 11 Physics students had the opportunity to see heat sinks in action yesterday, as they worked to emit thermal energy away from some of the computers and the servers in Hayden's office. They even got to use an infrared camera to detect the levels of infrared radiation being emitted from the computers. Thank you to Hayden and his work placement student, Jesse, for setting up the computers for the Physics crew to inspect, and for showing them a variety of computer parts.
Work Experience
Students will soon begin contacting businesses to organise their Work Experience placements. Resumes have been finalised and approved, and students are looking forward to taking the next step in their preparation.
A massive thank you to Dan and Luke from Charlton IGA, who have generously donated the proceeds from the Community Chest to support this year’s Work Experience group. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support they consistently provide to our students and programs over the years.
Easter Raffle & Egg Hunt
Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, participated and supported our Easter fundraiser. Your support is greatly appreciated. Winners will be announced on Facebook.
