Division Swimming
19 students qualified at the District event to participate in the Monash Waverley Division Carnival on Wednesday 4 March at Boroondara Sports Complex in Balwyn North.
Division swimming was held on the 4th March at Boroondara Complex. There were nineteen students who represented our school. My events for the day were 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Even with my best effort I placed third in backstroke and I sadly didn’t make it to the Region championships. I was still proud of my performance on the day. I highly encourage more students in the future to participate in the swimming carnival or have a tryout even if swimming might not be your strong suit.
Liam – Year 6
My events were 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly. Though I tried my hardest, making it to Region was just out of my reach. I’m still very proud of my efforts.
A huge shout out to Mr Perini, Ms Hocking and all the parents who came to cheer us on. Good luck to Amali, Dimitri and Harry who have advanced to the Eastern Region event.
Reece – Year 6
Years 3 to 6 House Cross Country
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Years 3 to 6 House Cross Country event on Thursday 5 March, achieving points for your house. It was fantastic to see so many students completing the course irrespective of where they placed. There were lots of examples of amazing sportsmanship along the way and at the finish line.
The school team comprises of the top nine fastest runners in the 9/10, 11 and 12/13 age groups and they will compete on Thursday 14 May at Jells Park in Wheelers Hill.
Thanks to Miss Kemp, Miss Boles, Mr Perini, Mr Russell and Mr Tang for their assistance at the finish line, and to the other staff for their assistance marking the tags and supervising the students.
A huge thanks to the following parent volunteers who marshalled the course, ensuring the students were safe running around the track: Kat Pryde, Sa Feng, Edwina McCarthy, Victor Tan, John Colley, Kenea Dhillon, Ting Zhang, Hayley Chin, Tiffany Van, Joel Pozenel, Karlee Warren, Kassandra Badrian, Zoe Doyeon Kim, Tina Li, Jasmine Dyke, Evelyn Dally, Dale Parker, Jen Bittner, Charlux Chau and Jonna Tse. Your support is greatly appreciated as without your assistance we wouldn’t be able to run such events!
Thanks also to the Year 6 students who helped at the finish line, taking photos and handing out 1st to 10th place ribbons: Isabelle, Jaasritha and Lily.
