Each year our school participates in the National Schools Clean Up Day (SCUD), which helps to promote the Clean Up Australia day event which has been running for over 20 years! Each class was given a chart to record all the various types of rubbish they collected, such as:

You would have noticed that there is a lot of rubbish around the school, some of which goes down the drain which is not good. The drains are connected to the sea which is causing pollution and we want to stop that. Tuesdays and Thursdays are wrapper free days, which means no wrappers at school.
We look through some of the rubbish on Clean Up Australia day and found that there were more chip packets then everything else. We are not sure if every class had this but we think that it should stop. We can prevent this so if you bring chips to school, instead of bringing chips in a packet, put them in a container.
Thank you for everyone that participated in the Clean Up Australia Day.

Clean Up Australia, in partnership with Coles, is calling on primary and secondary students across Australia participating in Schools Clean Up Day to get creative for a chance to win a $1,000 Coles voucher for their school and have their artwork featured on Coles reusable hessian shopping bags in 2027.
