Faith Formation and Mission

Mr Sandy Abbey | Assistant Principal - Faith Formation and Mission

As we approach the conclusion of Term 1, our community has gathered in several profound ways to reflect on the mysteries of Holy Week and the promise of Easter. This season, guided by our Year 12 theme, "Open the Door to the MSC Core," we have sought to open our hearts to a spirituality of radical love and new beginnings. As we depart for the break, let us carry the hope of Easter back into the world. May we be people of courage who seek to love as Jesus loved, making his heart known through simple acts of service and inclusion. We pray that the school holidays provide moments to reflect and ponder as we respond to Christ’s invitation to open the doors of our hearts to God’s infinite love.

Year 12 Retreat

The Year 12 Retreat, held in March, was a powerful and much-needed opportunity for our seniors to step away from their busy lives. Themed "The Heart’s Journey," the three days provided time for students to embrace the importance of awareness, discovering that it is only truly possible when we slow down and quiet the noise of daily pressures. Through shared memories and quiet reflection, they looked back on the moments where God has been present in their lives—in both the highs and the lows.

As they looked toward the future, they were challenged to consider not just what they will do, but the “work of art” God is shaping them into. We are so proud of how well they all engaged with the process.

Holy Week and Easter Liturgy

Today we celebrated as a College our Holy Week and Easter Liturgy. The Mass helped us to unpack our Year 12 2026 theme as we “opened the door” to the Easter story and how we are called to live this in our own lives. Our Year 10 Drama students, led by Mr Combes, provided a poignant reflection as we contemplated our response to the call to follow in Christ’s footsteps. Thank you also to our singers and musicians who added much richness to the celebration.

Project Compassion

Each year during Lent, the College supports Caritas Australia through Project Compassion. This year’s theme, Unite Against Poverty, has invited us to think about how our compassion for others can move beyond words and become real action. Thank you to all the wonderful support our Chev families have provided this Lent to this important course. Combined, we have raised over $6700 this term.

A special thank you to Reid House, whose St Patrick’s Day cake stall contributed over $1500 to this total. Thank you also to the students who took part in the Water Warriors Challenge, raising awareness about the challenges people face in just getting water on a daily basis. These contributions are concrete examples of the community opening of our hearts and extending our hands in service of others.
