Wow!
What a super fun day we had on Wednesday learning about different forms of prayer.
We were blessed to welcome Mr Damian Roff (Catholic Life, Mission and RE) and Mr Darryl Martin (Subject Matter Expert: Mission & RE) from the Armidale Catholic Schools Office to our school. Their mission was to lead the students and staff in exploring different forms of prayer.
Our stage 2 and 3 students were introduced to Visio Divina as a method of prayer using images. This involves choosing a picture and reflecting on it. We were also guided through the Examen and learned how we could use this as a reflection on our day.
Our Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students explored how to use our five senses to help us talk and listen to God. We tried out playdough, special rocks, different smells and candles.
In the afternoon, our staff reflected on our work during the day and how we can enhance prayer and encounter opportunities for students, staff and families.
A massive thank you to Mr Roff and Mr Martin for leading us in this important faith work. They both asked me to pass on a massive thank you to the St Joseph's students for how they welcomed our visitors and engaged in the activities.
Enjoy the photos!
School Mass
Today we celebrated mass led by the amazing young people in Kindergarten. A special thanks must also go to their big buddy helpers. A huge congratulations to Blake for making his debut serving on the altar. Congratulations Blake!
Our next school mass will be our last one for this term, led by our Year 1 & 2 students. Come along on Friday 20th June to celebrate with us; all are most welcome!
First Holy Communion
Please keep in your prayers, our three candidates who will begin to prepare to receive this Sacred Sacrament.
Catholic Schools Week mass
Just in case you missed it, we joined with representatives from across the Diocese on Wednesday last week to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
The mass was held in the De La Selle chapel at O'Connor Catholic School. Following the mass (which was led by Bishop Peter Murphy), we also had an opportunity to explore Sts Mary and Joseph Cathedral before returning home.
Thanks to Fr Curran for coming along to support our school, for Chris Jeffrey for the safe journey their and back and to Mrs Bearman for giving us these opportunities.
