Week 7 of this term was Book Week which Lara Secondary celebrated through our annual Literacy and Numeracy Week. The theme for Book Week this year was ‘Symphony of Stories’, celebrating different voices in literature. Activities across the week included:

  • Spelling Bee
  • Letters and Numbers game
  • Design a book as an album cover
  • Speed chess challenge
  • Library trivia and word search
  • Blackout poetry
  • Pi for a Pie competition
  • Daily maths challenges
  • Match the staff member to their favorite book
  • Staff afternoon tea

There was a high level of engagement from students with all activities run across the week, a big thank you to all the staff who supported these.

Our ‘match a staff member to their favourite book’ was a big hit and everyone who walked in stopped to see the display. This competition had students putting their detective skills to the test to see how many of the 30 books they could match with the staff member.

Congratulations to the following students who won prizes:

Carlo Gianinotti (Year 12) - Blackout Poetry

Aiden Quarrell (Year 8)  - Spelling Bee

Judd Kenna (Year 7) - Design a book as an album cover

Alex Quarrell (Year 11) - Match the staff member to their favourite book
