Wellbeing Update

Breakfast Club

Our School Breakfast Club continues to be very popular with students. It has been wonderful to see a few students taking an active role in volunteering their time to help prepare and cook delicious toasties, as well as assisting with handing out plenty of fresh fruit.

Breakfast Club provides more than just a meal; it is a great opportunity for students to connect with one another, build positive relationships with staff and start their school day in a welcoming environment. A big thank you to the students who have volunteered and contributed to making Breakfast Club such a success.

Safe Partying Presentation

Our School Nurse and School Mental Health Practitioner have commenced the Safe Partying presentations with our Year 11 and 12 students.

The sessions focus on helping students make informed decisions and understand how they can keep themselves and others safe. Topics covered include alcohol consumption, drugs and harm minimisation, responsible decision-making, and strategies for looking after themselves and their friends in social situations.

These important conversations provide our senior students with practical information and strategies as they prepare for greater independence and life beyond school.

Workshop Program

Our Workshop Program (a hands on learning program) has had another fantastic term, with students demonstrating creativity, practical skills and teamwork through a range of projects using reclaimed materials.

Students have completed picnic tables, soccer goals and a variety of personal projects, giving them the opportunity to develop hands-on skills while reusing and repurposing materials.

The completion of these projects was celebrated with a lunch this week. It was a great opportunity to recognise the hard work, commitment and achievements of the students involved. We are very proud of what they have accomplished.

Looking Ahead – Reach Foundation

We are also very pleased to announce that we have successfully secured funding for the Reach Foundation to facilitate programs at Lara Secondary College over the next two years.

Reach is an organisation that works with young people to build connection, resilience, confidence, leadership and positive relationships. Their programs use engaging, student centred activities to help young people explore their strengths, develop communication skills, build supportive peer relationships and feel a greater sense of belonging within their school community.

We are excited about the opportunities this partnership will provide for our students over the next two years and look forward to sharing more information about the programs as they commence.

Thank you to our students, staff and community members who continue to contribute to creating a supportive, connected and positive school environment. Wellbeing remains a shared responsibility, and it is fantastic to see so many members of our school community playing an active role.
