Production Preparation
A very busy term is under way as we continue preparations for our school production ‘Alice - The Musical.’ The Art leaders and myself have been impressed with all the front cover submissions for our production program competition. The winning entry will be announced in the coming weeks. We would love to display all the entries as we have been blown away by the talent across all year levels.
Preparation of production sets and props will continue this term through planned class work, staff working bees and parent working bees. Please keep an eye out for upcoming working bees, likely held on Friday mornings.
Term 2
This term in Visual Arts, students will be exploring how art connects with the environment, including Earth Science, linking closely to what they are exploring in class during Inquiry. They will learn about aspects of the natural world and use this knowledge to inspire their creative work.
Students will investigate features of the Earth such as rocks, soil, landforms, oceans, and weather. They will look at how these elements can be represented in art through colour, texture, shape, and pattern. Through hands-on activities, students will experiment with different materials and techniques to create artworks inspired by nature, including paintings, collages, and textured pieces.
Students will be encouraged to think about how we care for the Earth, including using recycled materials in their art and discussing ways artists can share messages about protecting the environment.
World Environment Day, the recent Artemis mission around the moon, a change into the cooler seasons and National Reconciliation Week all coincide well with this term’s unit and we will discuss these during art class to complement our explorations and creative pursuits.
This unit supports the development of creativity, observation skills, and an understanding of the links between art and science, helping students to see the beauty and importance of the world around them.
Please reach out if you can assist with any basic sewing for our school production, there may be jobs we need assistance with during this term.
Thank you
