Years 3 - 5

In the Senior Room, we have begun reading our class novel Matilda. We have been discussing the character of Mr Wormwood and exploring how unkind he is, as well as discovering that he is not an honest salesman. Students were particularly interested to learn that his business involves tricking people into buying run-down cars.

In Writing, students have explored creating their own comic strips. Their imagination was brought to life through creative drawings, fine detail and humorous speech bubbles.

In Maths, we have been learning about telling the time. Some students have challenged themselves further by learning how to convert time into 24-hour time.

In Science, we have been exploring the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. Last week, students made oobleck with Ms P. Oobleck is a fascinating substance that behaves as both a solid and a liquid, created by mixing two parts cornstarch with one part water. Students also enjoyed role-playing the different states of matter, helping to deepen their understanding in a fun and engaging way.

A huge congratulations to Sybil, Maddie, Ivy, Max and Toby for competing in the District Cross Country in Tarrington. A special mention to Sybil for coming first in her age group, an outstanding achievement. Well done, Sybil!

Next Friday, Maddie, Ivy and Sybil will travel to Warrnambool to compete in the next level of Cross Country. We wish them the very best of luck.
