Years F - 2

The F–2 students have shared some wonderful highlights over the past two weeks, including their excursion to the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre to see the performance of Where is the Green Sheep? This was followed by a walk, lunch, and play in the Botanical Gardens. I was so impressed with the students’ wonderful behaviour throughout the entire excursion. They represented the school beautifully.

In Art, students have been learning to explore collage techniques to create the basic shape of Elmer. They have been working towards the following success criteria:

  • I can tear, cut, and glue paper to create Elmer’s shape.
  • I can arrange coloured paper pieces to create Elmer’s patchwork pattern.

Students began by reading Elmer by David McKee and discussing his bright colours and patterns. They then cut out or traced a simple elephant shape and used torn or cut pieces of coloured paper to create Elmer’s patchwork design, making sure to fill the whole shape with a range of colours.

Term 2 is off to a busy and exciting start, filled with lots of engaging learning experiences and fun opportunities for our students.
