Principal's News

Good morning Families,
I hope you have been enjoying the magnificent weather. It looks like we can expect even more delightful days this week.
Child Safe Standard Three
This month we focus on Child Safe Standard 3. Our staff looked at the ways we already address this standard and considered additional strategies and ideas to inform and empower our students. Through our educational programs and school practices we aim to listen to our students and for them to know that we take their concerns seriously. Some of the ways we promote CSS3 include: Student Representative Council, Inform and Empower Cyber Safety Program, Positive Behaviour for Learning and our Social Emotional Learning program, Photo display of Child Safety and Wellbeing Team Members. One of the suggestions we have introduced is a red post box in the office. This post box is to make it easier for students to share any problems or issues they may be experiencing with a trusted adult. Thye can write a message addressed to a trsuted adult at school and it will be delivered to the adult who will then meet with the student on their next working day. We hope having this process may be easier for students than having to approach an adult.
Rest in Peace
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gloster family; Brendan, Lisa, Bridie and Oscar on the passing of Brendan’s Dad, Ian. He will be remembered as a lovely warm, inclusive and welcoming gentleman.
Eternal rest grant unto Ian, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Amen
Foundation (Prep) 2027
Enrolments for Foundation 2027 are now open and we are well into school tour season. Current families can expect to receive an invitation next week for parents and children to meet with me for a ‘Getting to Know You’ chat. If you are yet to enrol I strongly urge you to prioritse this.
Student Attendance and Illness
Regular school attendance is one of the strongest predictors of a child’s success both academically and socially. Each day at school provides valuable opportunities for learning, building friendships, and developing important life skills. When students attend consistently, they are more likely to feel confident, connected, and capable in their learning.
However, as we come into the cooler months and cold and flu season take hold, we understand that there will be times that your child will need to stay at home. This is not only for their health and recovery, but to help protect other students who are more vulnerable to illness and infections. Nevertheless, we encourage families to prioritise daily attendance and arrive at school on time, ready to learn.
An important message from our fundraising team:
MOTHER'S DAY CAKE STALL
The annual Holy Rosary Mother’s Day Cake Stall is fast approaching. This year it will be held on Saturday 9th May at Bubba Pizza Kensington.
We are asking the school community to lend their culinary talents to deliver a stylish, contemporary stall selling an exquisite range of homemade goodies to the Kensington community.
In past years we have raised an amazing $5000 which was used to purchase supplies to enrich our school programs.
Apart from cakes, slices, biscuits and other sweet treats, our stall also sells preserves such as jams, curds, sauces, relishes, pickles, tomato passata and pesto. If baking or preserving is not your thing you can still help with really easy no-bake recipes or even lolly bags.
If you can help with any of these best sellers over the next couple of weeks we would appreciate it. Get your thinking caps on and see how you can contribute.
Below is the link for the volunteer roles we will need over and above the donations for the day and lead in. Please sign up if you can help.
