Parents Battle of the Bands

The Parents Battle of the Bands is back again on Thursday 28 May at The Prince Bandroom in St Kilda.

Come along for a legendary night of live music, laughs, and top-notch entertainment (just ask anyone who’s been before). Plus, it’s a great way to connect with families across different school communities.

Our very own parents' band, The Portals, will be taking the stage and going head-to-head with Albert Park, St Kilda, Elwood, and Elsternwick primary schools.

The real winners? The schools that bring the biggest crowd! Rally your crew, wear something red, and get ready for a night of great vibes and even better tunes.

Buy tickets online - remember to select the PMPS band, The Portals.

Hi from the Plarres! We’ve got Felicity in 5B & Ellie now at APC. You may know Kate’s face from the office as well 😊. I joined the parents band back in 2019 and have loved getting to know so many of the awesome Port parents. It’s inspired me to find my inner rockstar and has also encouraged my kids to play more music which Kate & I just love. Can’t wait to see you in the crowd at the next battle on 28 May. ❤

Hi I’m Angus. Proud to be representing PMPS and my kids (Tove in Grade 4, Bonnie in Prep) for my fourth year in PBOB! Always a blast playing with a great bunch of band mates and having the amazing support on the night from so many Port parents and friends. Hope to see you on May 28th at The Prince Bandroom in St Kilda!

Hi, I'm Danny and we have Zoe in Grade 3 and Fletcher Grade 1. As a family, we love lots of different sports, board games, camping, cooking, and spending time outside exploring. It’s my second year in the band, and I still really love and look forward to rehearsal each week, learning the new songs to test out together, and also new drumming techniques and styles.

Both our boys loved their primary journey at PMPS, so it’s a real joy to be connected to the school community and this amazing cause. I started playing piano in primary school, and being part of The Portals is a great excuse to team up with fellow parents, have a laugh, and play a small part in boosting the musical journeys of PMPS students. Can’t wait for 28 May, hope to see lots of familiar and new faces there!

I bring a lifelong love of music and a passport full of stories. I’m American-born, my wife Petra is from the Czech Republic, and our daughter Tori is proudly Melbourne-made. We’ve recently returned to Australia after three years in the United States.

Music has always been a constant for me. I’ve spent over 20 years playing, from garages to stages. At home, it’s part of our daily soundtrack, whether in the car, in the kitchen, or now, on stage representing Tori’s PMPS.

I’m excited to join the lineup this year, combining my passion for music with a great excuse to get involved and to prove to Tori that her dad still has a little cool left in him.

Hi everyone! We’re the Brkic family — with Marko in Year 5 and Lara in Year 9 (alumni of PMPS). I joined the parents band this year and it’s been such a fun and rewarding way to stay connected to the school community. I’ve always loved music, and getting back into performing with such a great group (and plenty of laughs along the way!) has been amazing. Bring on the 28th May!

It's an honour to be part of The Portals line up for 2026.

I heard rumours that the best band in the land was at PMPS. Having now had the opportunity to meet and rehearse with these legends, the rumours are true. I can't wait to get on stage and help bring the trophy home.

With my son in Year 1 and a daughter to come it's going to be a massive decade of fun.
