Learning in & out of the classroom

Zoo excursion
This term, Year 5 students explored animal adaptations, learning how behaviours, physical features, and life cycles help animals survive in different environments.
They put their knowledge into action during an excursion to Melbourne Zoo, where they examined animal skulls and explored habitats to see adaptations firsthand.
"The zoo was super fun! We got to feed the otters (and they were so cute)! We visited the wild animals section, the Aussie bush section and the under water section. The best part was seeing the orangutan respond to instructions from the Zookeeper and collect different balls. He was very smart. I loved it! " – Felicity, 5B
Cooking in STEM
Year 5 students enjoyed an introductory cooking lesson as they gear up for their big cook-up next term as part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. They practised essential skills including knife techniques, food preparation, kitchen safety, and cleaning up.
If you have a child in Year 5, they could cook you dinner (and leave the kitchen spotless) over the holidays!
Two Little Birds in French
"Bonjour Fifi, Bonjour Blanche!"
Our Year 1 students have been having fun practising their French greetings! They recently performed “Deux Petits Oiseaux” (“Two Little Birds”), featuring Fifi and Blanche, two very polite little birds perched on a branch.
During the performance, Fifi and Blanche introduce themselves, say hello, and then, before flying away, give a cheerful “Au revoir!”
It’s wonderful to see our students practising language skills in such a playful and memorable way. Watch a video on our Instagram or Facebook page.
Cross Country & sport update
Congratulations to our Cross Country superstars who ran their hearts out last Friday, battling the strong winds and racing to the finish before the rain came down! It truly was a four seasons in one day, Melbourne weather event.
The top 8 students from each age group will progess through to the Southport District Cross Country on 8 May, competing against 14 other schools.
Term 2 sport focus:
- AFL skills – whole school
- AFL Gala Day for Year 5-6 students
