Highlights in 5/6GN from Wellbeing Week!

What a wonderful and uplifting week we’ve had celebrating Wellbeing Week! Our school was buzzing with positive energy, reflection and community spirit as students engaged in a wide variety of activities designed to nurture mind, body, and spirit.

Here is a look back at what 5/6GN enjoyed throughout the week:

🤝 Buddy Activity

We kicked off the week with a wonderful buddy activity and picnic lunch. Our Year 6 students stepped up as fantastic leaders, helping their younger buddies write special window messages and decorate leaves for our Wellbeing Tree, which is now proudly displayed in the office foyer. Be sure to take a look next time you pop into the office!

🧘 Mindfulness & Praying in Colour

Mindfulness was a key focus of our week. Students participated in a calming meditation session to help ground themselves and practise being present.

We also explored a creative spiritual practice called "Praying in Colour." This unique approach allowed us to reflect and pray in a different way by focusing on gratitude. Students drew, coloured and wrote down the names of the special people, places, and things in their lives they are most grateful for, creating beautiful and meaningful prayer journals.

🎭 Beauty and the Beast Musical

Our Year 5 students had an exciting outing joining the Year 4 students to watch the spectacular Mazenod/Avila production of Beauty and the Beast. It was a fantastic experience filled with music, drama, and incredible talent!

🪨 Affirmation Rocks

To keep the positive vibes going all year long, students got creative by decorating an affirmation rock. Each student chose a positive message or reminder to write on their rock. These will serve as personal touchstones throughout the year whenever anyone needs a quick boost of positivity or encouragement.

📖 New Class Novel: The Last Bear

In the classroom, we began reading our new class novel, The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. Through this moving story, we are exploring important and timely themes, including:

  • Environmental conservation and looking after our Earth
  • The healing power of friendship and empathy
  • The power of individual action and how one person can make a difference!

A huge thank you to all our staff and students for making Wellbeing Week such a memorable success. Let’s keep carrying these positive habits and mindfulness practices with us throughout the term!
