ICAS Competition 2026

We are happy to inform you that Christ Our Holy Redeemer will be participating in the ICAS competition this year. This is a completely voluntary competition and may not suitable for all students. Please consider the individual needs of your child before enrolling them in the competition.
Please note that COHR will not be participating in the Australian Maths Competition this year and that the ICAS Competition will be taking its place.
What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition for students in Year 2 and above, that is designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Digital Technologies. Please note that the Writing test is only available from Year 3 onwards.
Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student who participates will receive a printed certificate and an online results report. Top performers will be eligible for medals.

ICAS Results and Certificates
Once we have received your child’s ICAS certificates, we will send them home with your child. We will wait until all certificates have arrived at school before sending them home. The back of the certificate shows ICAS results and the login details, “TAP ID and Pin”, that you and your child need to enter the Results Portal: https://orti.icasassessments.com/ortiStudent.
Important Note
We will be conducting the tests during the school day. The students sitting the tests will be withdrawn from their normal class lessons to complete the tests.
It is important that we point out that these tests are not the same as NAPLAN tests. NAPLAN testing involves EVERY child in Australia in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 and therefore the comparison of how an individual child performs is a relatively accurate assessment compared to averages.
As ICAS is selective, any comparisons are only made against the relatively small number of students that sit the test. Parents need to be cautious about drawing conclusions as to how their child is performing against averages in ICAS tests.
