Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and Father Arsenio,
As we begin another busy and rewarding term, I continue to be reminded of what makes Holy Spirit such a special place. Every day I see our students embracing opportunities to learn, our staff going above and beyond for the children in their care, and our families generously supporting the life of our school. Thank you for the role each of you plays in making our community one built on faith, friendship and belonging.
Planning is now well underway for our upcoming School Fete, and we are calling on the support of our wonderful parent community. Events like these are only possible because of the generosity of volunteers who are willing to give a little of their time. Whether you can assist for an hour or for the day, your help will make a significant difference. I encourage anyone who is able to volunteer to reach out. We would love to have you involved in what promises to be a fantastic community celebration.
I am also delighted to share that our new playground has now been installed and is almost ready for our students to enjoy. It has already brought great excitement across the school, and it is wonderful to see the children making the most of this new space. While the playground has now been completed, we are still working to finalise funding for the project. The suppliers have generously installed it on a delayed payment plan. We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our school community and will continue to keep you updated as we work through this process.
Over the coming fortnight, we are hoping to finalise the appointment of our new Business and Operations Leader. This role represents an important investment in the future of Holy Spirit and will strengthen the operational leadership of our school, allowing us to continue building strong systems and supporting the many opportunities available to our students and staff. I look forward to sharing further information with our community once the appointment process has concluded. If you recall this appointment will work in conjunction with me across both sites.
Many of you will also have noticed the mural that now proudly celebrates our school. I am pleased to let you know that the commemorative name bricks surrounding the mural have now been ordered. This project will provide a lasting tribute to the families who have been part of Holy Spirit’s story and will become a special feature for generations to come. I expect them to arrive in approximately six weeks.
Parent Teacher Interviews are today. These conversations are an important opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning, discuss their progress and continue the strong partnership between home and school. If you have not yet booked an interview, please contact your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible so that a suitable time can be arranged.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone of our 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday 8 August. This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with past students, families and staff as we celebrate five decades of Holy Spirit Community School. If you know someone who has been part of our journey over the past fifty years, please encourage them to join us. We would love to see as many past and present members of our Holy Spirit family come together to celebrate this significant milestone.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school. Together we continue to build a community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.
Best wishes,
Duncan
