From the Classroom

What classroom pet would be better than a duck?
Our Year 1 and 2 students have been busy becoming persuasive writers and sharing some very important opinions! Students have been exploring the question: “What would be the best classroom pet, other than a duck?”
Students have enjoyed thinking creatively about which animal would make the perfect classroom companion. They have formed their own opinions and worked hard to support them with strong reasons, interesting details and convincing arguments.
From axolotls and bunnies to snakes and other furry friends, our classrooms have been filled with lively discussions as students considered what makes a good classroom pet. They have been learning that persuasive writing is more than simply stating what they like; it is about giving clear reasons and explaining their thinking so they can convince their readers.
Students have also been experimenting with persuasive language to make their writing more engaging and convincing. It has been wonderful to see them confidently share their ideas and realise that.
