Exploring Careers in Construction

As part of Careers, VET and Futures Week, students recently had the unique opportunity to go behind the site fence and take an exclusive tour of Mount Alvernia College's Canticle building project with Hutchinson Builders.

Stepping onto a live construction site within the College grounds, students gained firsthand insight into how a major building project is delivered and discovered the wide range of careers that contribute to the construction industry.

Students met industry professionals from Hutchinsons Builders and m3architecture, and learned about pathways in project management, contract administration, quantity surveying, health and safety, architecture and design management, and skilled trades. They also explored the many routes into the industry, including university degrees, TAFE qualifications, apprenticeships, traineeships and school-based pathways.

The experience highlighted the diversity of opportunities within the construction sector and encouraged students to consider how their interests, whether in leadership, creativity, problem-solving, business, technology or practical hands-on work, could lead to a rewarding future career.
