Deputy Principal's Message

Mrs Boardman

I would like to thank our families for the continued positive start to the year at Marangaroo Primary School. It has been pleasing to see students engaged in their learning and demonstrating our school values both in the classroom and in the playground. The strong support from our families continues to play an important role in creating a welcoming and connected school community.

Congratulations to Mrs Rogers and the Kookaburras class for hosting our first assembly for the year. The students did a wonderful job presenting and representing their class with confidence. It was also fantastic to see so many parents, carers and community members attending the assembly. Your presence helps make these events special for our students and strengthens the sense of community within our school.

Congratulations to the many recipients of the first successful student awards. It's fabulous to see the positive start to the school year and the personal determination and effort that students are showing towards their learning.

I would also like to congratulate Madison B, Nirvanah W, Oliver L and Alicia T on their election to the positions of Deputy Faction Captains.  This is a new initiative that we have adopted this year, to give years 5's an opportunity to develop their leadership skills prior to year 6. These Deputies will be in their roles from Term 1 Week 5 to the end of week 5 term 2, when another set of elected students will be announced to take on the responsibilities for a term.

I would also like to thank the many families who attended our Open Afternoon. These opportunities allow families to connect with teachers, see their child’s learning environment and gain an understanding of the programs and expectations for the year ahead. We appreciate the time families take to attend these events and support the partnership between home and school.

Next week, on Friday 20 March, we will be celebrating Harmony Day, which recognises the cultural diversity within our school and the broader Australian community. Harmony Day is an important opportunity for students to celebrate the message that everyone belongs. Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt or cultural dress on the day as a way of acknowledging and celebrating diversity. We will also be holding a community picnic to mark the occasion. Further information about this event will be shared with families via Dojo and on the Canteen Page of this newsletter.

Thank you again for your continued support of Marangaroo Primary School. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with our families to ensure the best outcomes for our students.
