Principal Update

What an absolute pleasure it was to attend Valedictory Dinner on Saturday evening to celebrate the Class of 2025. The atmosphere was one of pure excitement and celebration with a touch of relief that secondary schooling was complete. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the staff and families involved in marking this important milestone and I look forward to hearing about the many and varied pathways and opportunities our students embark on.
We really are at the pointy end of the school year now with the focus shifting from completion of 2025 teaching and learning to the 2026 classes. This comes with a lot of activity for every year level at this time of year, with our Year 11s having completed their semester exams and today sees them finish their Step Up program and thereby the school year, our Year 10s have this week undertaken their semester exams and next week our current Year 7 to 10 students will all commence their Step Up program into their 2026 subjects and classes. Within this mix, our Year 7 cohort will head out on camp in a staggered manner across next week. I wish all students well as they commence their new classes and subject content setting them up for success for the 2026 school year.
On Tuesday 9th December we will also be welcoming our 2026 Year 7s to school for the day as part of the Statewide Orientation Day. This is always a great day on the school calendar, supporting the broader transition from primary to secondary school.
Following the determination by the Department of Education around branded uniform requirements which takes effect at the end of this year, I wish to inform our school community that School Council has recently approved an updated student dress code policy. The main points that have changed, are that pants, shorts, skirts, skorts no longer have to be branded with the school logo. They do however need to be plain navy items. The updated policy can be accessed here.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind families of the impending social media ban that takes effect for children under the age of 16 from the 10 December 2025. ReachOut Australia has information and resources to support this change, https://au.reachout.com/collections/social-media-ban.
A reminder that Wednesday 10th December is a pupil free day for all year levels before we commence student activities days as listed in the college calendar. I look forward to rounding out the year seeing students embark on their new subjects and our celebratory awards night in the last week of term.
Enjoy reading this edition, that as always, celebrates the breadth of wonderful initiatives and achievements across the school.
Kind Regards,
