Kitchen Garden

From Simone & Jill

Unfortunately there will be no Kitchen Garden classes at all in term 1 due to Simone’s fractured ribs. But we can’t wait to get students back in the garden on a Thursday and the kitchen on a Friday from term 2!

In the meantime, there is still lots going on in the garden. We are keeping what produce we can use next term when Kitchen Garden is back, such as the pumpkins that are just starting to become ready.

And what we can’t keep, Jill has been picking with students from LA12 over the past fortnight and putting out in a produce basket in the kitchen garden for the school community to take and use.  So far families have been able to enjoy corn, beans, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, lemons and basil. Look for today’s harvest sitting on top of the bed near the curry leaf tree.

LA12 have also been helping to maintain the garden – planting strawberry runners, looking after the worms, and clearing dead and dying leaves for the compost. Not shown, but just as important was the group of volunteers who appeared at lunchtime on February 18 to help with the watering!
