4v4 Football Competition
Wow! What an amazing start to the inaugural 4v4 Football competition! The support from all teams and spectators alike has set the tone for what will be a very exciting competition and atmosphere. Played every Thursday lunchtime in the ISC and on the hard courts, the Years 7 and 8 competition has seen 10 teams battle it out in the race to the finals. The group stage finishes in Week 9, with the finals on the last day of term – come on down and be part of the excitement!
ASC Rowing Competes at PSA Invitational
On Saturday 8 March the ASC Rowing Girls squad was invited to compete in two invitational events at the Scotch College hosted Public Schools Association Regatta #4.
The club was represented by Alicia Garvey, Rosie Bennison, Ella Smith, Hayley Walker and cox Leticia Avery. They raced in the 2km Open Schoolgirls’ Quad and the 1km Open Schoolgirls’ Quad.
This was the first time ASC had been invited to compete in a PSA event and the first time competing as a club in a 2km race!
The 2km was an impressive showing by our Year 10s, who achieved the middle placing out of 3 crews. All competing schools fielded athletes who were older than our crew and/or preparing for Nationals campaigns in the coming months. Considering the challenge, ASC impressed with their technique and fitness to finish the race above expectations.
The 1km race resulted in a close 4th place. Hindered by a crab (caught oar) in the closing stages, the crew again displayed a highly competitive brand of rowing against more experienced competitionand were in a strong third place until the misplaced stroke.
A great learning experience was had by all, and we are in outstanding shape for a highly competitive and successful Regatta season ahead.
The senior squads look forward to the next lot of challenges in some longer Head Races, in excess of 5km of racing, whilst our juniors continue to hone their craft and get set for one of the busiest seasons in recent history.
