Sports News 

Welcome back to a busy term of sport at Tallebudgera. This term our students will be covering Tennis (yr 5-6), Cricket (yr 4), Hockey (yr 3), Striking tennis (yr 2) and Fundamental movement including striking (prep- yr1).

 

Senior Sports Day

It was very exciting for our students to finally have their senior sports day this week. It was a day filled with some amazing sportsmanship, competition and teamwork. Well done to Tobin for winning the day. 

 

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to the following students who had great success competing at representative carnivals.  

 

Harlen, Bodhi and Jaxen – represented the QLD Oztag team The Storm and competed at the national tournament at Coffs Harbour over the weekend. The boys made it to the quarter final. Well done boys. 

 

Eva - who ran at the QLD Track and Field carnival and came 3rd in the 1500m representing South Coast. Eva will now head to the National titles. Well done Eva.  

 

Noah - Good luck to Noah who is competing in the National Swimming championship this weekend representing Queensland. All the best.

 

Allschools Touch Football

Good luck to our 4 touch football teams that will be competing next week at the Qld Allschools touch football carnival.  The students have put in some solid work at training in the lead up to the carnival. Thank you to Mrs Slattery for all of her help with getting our teams ready for the carnival.  

 

Year 2 and Year 3 Swimming

During week 8 and 9 of this term, our year 2 and 3 students will be participating in their water safety program with Sunny Skyes swim school. 

 

Year 5 and 6 Recreational Sport

This Friday our year 5 and 6 students will start their recreational sport program. This program allows our students the opportunity to pick and try out a recreation or adventure sport for 6 weeks during school time. The sports on offer for our students are surfing, mountain biking, ten pin bowling, golf, orienteering, pickleball and hip hop dance. Some of the sports on offer will have outside coaches and trainers in for the sessions.

 

 Sporting Academies

Our Sporting Academies continue to thrive, with strong participation and enthusiastic students and staff. It’s wonderful to see so many young athletes eager to improve and develop their skills. A massive thank you to all the teachers that been involved with the setting up and the weekly running of these academies. Mrs Slattery, Mr Gaggin, Mr Sinton, Mr King and Mr Simpson.   

 

The academies will train at the following times this term. 

 

Surfing - Tuesday mornings   6:00am - 7:00am (Year 3 - 6) 

Touch Football - Wednesday  7:30 - 8:30am (Year 3 - 6)

Rugby League - Thursday  7:30 - 8:30am (Year 4 - 6)

Running Club

Running Club is happening every Friday morning from 8:00am - 8:30am in the hall. If your child is keen to join, please contact the office to complete a permission form.
