News and Notices

It was a pleasure to welcome our students back to school for Term 4! We have another exciting term planned with lots of learning and a full calendar of events including highlights such as The Night of Stars (i.e. extra-curricular performing arts event), Year 3 - 6 swimming carnival, Year 6 Graduation Ceremony, Year 6 social event, Year 5 camp, Year 4 day camps, school photos and our annual Tally Way Day (11 December). Parents and caregivers receive event details via ClassDojo.
Tally Way Day is a signature school event that culminates our student wellbeing and positive behaviour program each year, providing a chance for children to practise ‘The Tally Way’ during a range of fun activities. That day, we will also hold the annual ‘Tunnel of Love’ where our whole school farewells our Year 6 students.
We are wishing our Year 6 students a truly spectacular Term 4 and will be treasuring our remaining time with them and their families. We've known most of these children since they were 4 and 5 year olds and we are about to see them move onto their next chapter of success, so we are feeling sentimental.
Prep 2026
We are excited to connect with our wonderful 2026 Prep students during the Term 4 interviews in Week 4! Information about upcoming events is provided to parents and carers of enrolled students, so if your child is starting school next year and you haven’t enrolled them yet, please enrol ASAP so they don’t miss this important preparation time. Enrolling your child in advance begins the important partnership that helps us get to know our future students, so that we can give them the best possible start to school.
Evidence-Informed Practice
Our school has a long history of using evidence-informed teaching practices and high levels of consistency in the instructional programs and assessment judgements across year levels. Teaching teams collaborate, with the support of leaders in the areas of curriculum, teaching and intervention to plan, review and refine all aspects of the educational programs. An extensive system of professional learning supports staff to implement effective practices.
As a result, the approaches of explicit instruction and synthetic phonics to teach reading, sometimes presented in the media as 'new', are already in place in our school.
Senior Sports Day
We commend our students on their outstanding conduct and attitudes at our recent Senior Sports day. We were impressed by the highly competitive spirit, positive participation and prevalence of excellent sportsmanship. Students were seen encouraging and congratulating each other throughout the day, without being told to, and seeing children shake each other's hands, pat each other on the back and say positive things was heart-warming. This was an example of The Tally Way in action. So too was having members of our wonderful school community here supporting our students. Thank you to everyone who joined us.
See the Sport section of this newsletter for more about this event.
Lost Property Reminder
As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask parents to remind their children to check the lost property area for any missing items. Unnamed items can't be returned and when unclaimed after a period of time, are removed and donated to the P&C for the second hand uniform sale.
Named items are returned to students so please ensure all items such as jumpers, hats and drink bottles are clearly named.
Thank you for your support in helping us return lost items to their owners.
School Photos
School photos are 30 and 31 October 2025. A friendly reminder that children need to be in their uniform on that day including plain black shoes and plain white socks. Boots or shoes with white or colour on any part are not the uniform.
Staff Appreciation Day
Next Friday, we mark our annual celebration of ‘Staff Appreciation Day’ with students. We acknowledge staff appreciation as one team, rather than different days for different employee groups, because we recognise that every member of our team has an important role to play in our success. We are one team, united to make a positive difference for our students.
Students will be given the opportunity to write certificates of appreciation for staff members of their choice and these will be displayed on the wall in the undercover area near our tuckshop. We invite you to express your appreciation to staff members on that day too if you would like to (e.g. send a note, write an email, send a Dojo message).
Remembrance Day
Tuesday 11 November is Remembrance Day and we will observe a minute of silence at 11am. Family members are welcome to pick a sprig of rosemary from our garden as a symbol of remembrance on that day if they would like to. Our school leaders will offer pieces of rosemary to our students. We have extensively planted rosemary throughout our school to help us to show respect on Remembrance Day and ANZAC Day.
