Classroom Corner

Welcome to Classroom Corner!

Term 4 is off to a busy start with all of our students engaged in learning across our classrooms.

This term, many year levels are completing mathematical modelling tasks. Mathematical modelling involves using problem solving skills to solve real world problems. Students have to consider what assumptions and variables they need to consider, use mathematical strategies to find an answer, and then reflect on both the reasonableness of their answer and the success of the strategies they used.

Have a look at these examples of thinking and modelling in Year 4 and 5!

Problem:

A family wants to go on a Hike in the Gold Coast Hinterland. Can you plan a day hike for them? What will you need to consider?
