Dear Parents,

What a wonderful and busy fortnight it has been at St Francis Xavier! 

We are so proud of our students, who have represented our school brilliantly across a range of network events. Inside the classrooms, learning is thriving, and our Stage 3 students are putting their heart and soul into preparing for our end of term school musical. 

Kindergarten School readiness

We commenced the first session of our Kindergarten School Readiness program last week for our 2027 Kindergarten students. The children had a session of music and play based activities and judging by the happy smiles on their faces, they all had a great time. Mr Anderson and myself spoke to parents and expressed how delighted we are to welcome them to our wonderful community. We also outlined the benefits of the program and how it supports each child to come to school in Jan 2027 full of confidence and ready to achieve success. The program will continue this Friday and fortnightly until the end of November.  

Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop

On Friday morning, our Kindergarten and Year 6 students led the school community in a beautiful prayer service to celebrate the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. It was a truly special morning, with Kindergarten finishing the service with a heartfelt song to Mary. It was also wonderful to see so many parents and families from the community join us in the Church. 

Peaceful Kids

Our Year 4 students are continuing to work through their sessions of the program which commenced last term. 

The tools and strategies that the students are developing will be ones that will become lifelong strategies for maintaining friendships, navigating social situations and developing and mindfulness each day. 

Public Speaking

Mr Criniti and myself had a great morning last Tuesday at Holy Innocents Primary school, who hosted the Public Speaking Network finals. 

Lilyan, Olivia and Victoria represented our school beautifully and I couldn’t have been prouder of the way the 3 girls delivered their speeches. The girls spoke with appropriate expression, confidence and none of them needed palm cards to remember their content…..a brilliant effort indeed!

Congratulations to Victoria, who was awarded first place in the Stage One category. 

Athletics Conference

A big congratulations to the whole team of students who represented St Francis Xavier at Sydney Olympic Park last Monday at the Conference 2 Athletics Carnival. I was so excited to hear that some of our students broke long lasting records but I was more impressed about the behaviour in which our students displayed throughout the day as well as the sportsmanship and team spirit on show by St Francis. Well done to Marquez, Sadie, Micah and Stella who will be progressing to the next stage - The MacKillop conference event in a few weeks time. We cannot wait to hear about your next adventure!

Tournament of the Minds

Ms Tsokas and Mr Tropeano are working with students from Stage 3 to prepare for the upcoming Tournament of the Minds. 

Tournament of Minds is a problem solving program for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. The tournament's aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.

Faith and Family Afternoons

Miss Cindy has been very busy, working in the Kindergarten and Year 1 classrooms with our littlest students. It has been wonderful to see so many of our families attending our Faith and Family afternoons. The smiles on the children’s faces when they see their families join them for an afternoon of craft and reflection is priceless. Miss Cindy will continue these afternoons with all other grade groups throughout the term.
