Science - Environmental Engineering

In Semester 1, students had the opportunity to complete a Science Elective focused on Environmental Engineering. The course looked at what sustainability means, product lifecycles and how every product requires resources in some form. Students then explored how water, energy and waste can be managed to contribute to more sustainable lifestyles. 

For their final project, students were required to design a sustainable house / property that incorporated sustainable design principles. Students explained the choices of their design including water and waste management, materials used and cost benefit of different materials. You can see some of their work below

Library News

The library staff have been busy and we have lots of new books and magazines available for you to read, so come in and check them out.

A large number of these new books were funded by a donation from the organisation, Something About Hugo, with the idea that the money would support literacy skill development for our students. These books were all considered purchases, and we worked closely with a range of people to choose them. We used the 'book requests and suggestions list' that students fill out when they have a recommendation. The English teachers asked their classes what non-fiction topics they are interested in, with cars and fishing being the top two. We were also able to get some resources to support the teaching of literacy skills, and English. We are so happy and grateful to have a range of topics, formats, and interests represented in these new additions to our collection.

Year 9 PE

Year 9s have been learning different dances and a range of gymnastics skills in their Physical Education classes recently. Last week they tackled the Queensland Backstep, while this week they learned Strip the Willow. They are pictured here building teamwork and trust, as well as practicing their news moves.
