Breakfast Club Featured by Foodbank Victoria
We're excited to share that Buninyong Primary School's Breakfast Club has recently been featured by Foodbank Victoria as part of its School Breakfast Clubs Program.
Foodbank visited our school earlier this year to see Breakfast Club in action and learn more about how the program has grown to become such a valued part of our school community. Their article highlights the welcoming atmosphere, the connections students build with one another and with staff, and the positive start to the day that Breakfast Club provides.
We're incredibly proud of the caring environment that has been created and grateful to our wonderful staff and volunteers who help make Breakfast Club such a success each week.
Breakfast Club is open to all Buninyong Primary School students every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:15–8:45 am. Students are welcome to enjoy a healthy breakfast, catch up with friends or simply ease into the school day in a calm and friendly environment.

Building Independence Through Everyday Experiences
Term 3 is always a busy and exciting time at Buninyong Primary School. Over the coming weeks, students will be involved in a range of activities including swimming, Year 5/6 camp, concert rehearsals and performances, excursions and, for some 5/6 students, our Japan Study Tour.
While each experience is unique, they all provide valuable opportunities for students to practise important life skills such as organisation, responsibility, problem-solving and independence. Remembering swimming gear, packing for camp, organising a concert bag, looking after personal belongings or following a timetable away from school may seem like small tasks, but they all help children develop confidence in their own abilities.
Research shows that children develop independence by having regular opportunities to take on age-appropriate responsibilities and solve everyday problems. This doesn't mean they need to do everything on their own, but rather that, with support and encouragement, they gradually learn to manage more for themselves.
Families play an important role in this process. Encouraging children to pack their own school bag, check they have everything they need for the day, prepare for upcoming activities and take responsibility for their belongings helps reinforce these skills at home.
As students take part in the many opportunities on offer this term, we look forward to seeing them continue to challenge themselves, develop confidence and grow as capable, independent learners.

Attendance Notes – Term 2
As we head into Term 3, we'd appreciate families taking a moment to check that there are no outstanding attendance notes for any absences from Term 2.
You can do this by:
- Logging into the Compass Parent Portal.
- Clicking on your child's profile.
- Selecting the relevant unexplained absence.
- Adding an attendance note with the reason for the absence.
