From our Assistant Principal

Judith McDonald

It's hard to believe that we have nearly reached the halfway point of Term 2.

I had to take some unexpected leave for the first 3 weeks of term to care for a family member.

It has been wonderful to come back and see our students continuing to demonstrate resilience, enthusiasm and a strong enjoyment of their learning programs and school activities.

Classrooms across the school have been filled with rich learning experiences, collaboration and many opportunities for students to challenge themselves and grow.

2026 Student Representative Council (SRC)

The first meeting of our 2026 Student Representative Council (SRC) was held today.

These meetings  will be facilitated by Gemma Kennedy who is one of our Learning Specialists.

Gemma leads and works in the Primary 1 section of the school and is also focussing on the development and promotion of Student Voice across the whole school. Today's meeting focussed on Gemma and the students getting to know each other and talking about the role of the SRC.

The SRC provides student representatives with an opportunity to plan school events, give feedback about what's going well and suggest improvements for our school as well as communicating with school council about their ideas and decisions.

Our school captains and house captains will participate in these meetings.

Our Speech Pathologists are supporting with the development of visuals and communication supports to enable all students to fully participate in and contribute to these meetings.

We look forward to hearing more from our students through the SRC.

💙 Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing remains a key focus. Staff continue to support students in developing positive friendships, emotional regulation and strong learning habits.

We encourage families to maintain regular routines, including healthy sleep habits and consistent attendance, to support student learning and wellbeing.

🏫 Attendance Matters

  • ⏰ Every school day counts.
  • 🤝 Regular attendance helps students stay connected with their learning and friendships.
  • 📞 If your child is absent, please remember to either record this on Compass or notify the school office as soon as possible.

📅 Looking Ahead

  • 🎉 Education Week next week. We look forward to seeing as many parents and carers as possible attending our special events for next week.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦  SSG meetings. We look forward to continuing to work together with families throughout the term. Our Student Support Group meetings will be held next week. These are an important opportunity for parents/carers, teachers and therapists to meet to discuss student progress and supports. It's not too late to book a meeting with your child's teacher. You can do this via Compass or by contacting your child's teacher directly.

  • Thank you to families for your ongoing partnership and support — it makes a significant difference to student wellbeing and success.
