SWPBS

The SWPBS focus for Weeks 3 & 4 of Term 4 is Responsibility - Be SunSmart.

This includes:

  • Wearing a hat outside from the 1st September to 30th April

  • Wearing sunscreen on any uncovered skin (each classroom has sunscreen)

  • Drinking water regularly when it’s hot

Being SunSmart is important because it helps protect our skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, reducing the risk of sunburn and skin cancer. Wearing a hat and sunscreen protects our skin when we are outside, while drinking water regularly helps keep us hydrated, especially on hot days. These simple actions show responsibility by helping us look after our health and wellbeing.

Parents can support SunSmart habits at home by reminding children to wear a hat when playing outside, applying sunscreen before outdoor activities and encouraging them to reapply it as needed. Providing a water bottle and reminding children to drink water regularly, especially on hot days, helps them stay hydrated. By modelling these behaviours and making them part of everyday routines, parents can help primary-aged children develop responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.
