Planning Week at BNPS

Next week is Planning Week at BNPS.

Planning Week provides our teaching staff with valuable time to work together to plan, prepare and develop learning programs for Term 3. During this time, classroom teachers are released by specialist teachers and Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs) to undertake year-level planning.

Planning Week Schedule

  • Monday – Years 3/4 Planning
  • Tuesday – Foundation Planning
  • Wednesday – Years 1/2 Planning
  • Thursday – Years 5/6 Planning

We understand that for some students, a day without their regular classroom teacher can feel challenging, overwhelming or overstimulating. To support students during Planning Week, we have adapted a number of our processes. One important adjustment is that each year level will have a consistent Education Support staff member with them throughout the day. While students may work with several different teachers, there will be one familiar staff member monitoring wellbeing, supporting transitions and sharing important information between teachers.

Families can play an important role in helping students prepare for their Planning Day. Talking through the day ahead and identifying strategies to manage challenges can help students approach the experience with confidence.

If your child finds changes to routines or learning spaces difficult, it can be helpful to focus on what will stay the same. Recess and lunch times will remain unchanged, bells will ring at the usual times, and students will still spend time with their peers. Specialist learning spaces such as the Art Room and Japanese Room will continue to have familiar expectations, routines and learning experiences.

We also ask families to remind students that all staff members, including specialist teachers and CRTs, deserve the same respect and cooperation that they would show their regular classroom teacher.

As always, we recognise that some students may require additional adjustments or a modified plan to successfully participate in the day. If you feel your child may need additional support, please contact your child's classroom teacher via Seesaw to discuss possible arrangements. Working together to plan ahead often helps students feel more confident and successful.

Thank you for your support in helping make Planning Week a positive experience for all students.
