Students Leadership

There is a lot of excitement about the new toilets, but unfortunately, there have been ongoing issues with vandalism and damage in the current toilets. Some of this behaviour has been very inappropriate and has made the toilets unpleasant for other students to use. The SUP leaders and Mrs Macdonald meet this week to talk about some concerns.
Dunja and Zach have written a summary about the meeting and the ideas they have.
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Carers,
The Stand Up leaders would like to discuss some conversations we’ve been having with the help of Mr Garner and Mrs Macdonald about how to keep our toilets clean and looked after. Recently, the toilets in our school have been mistreated and misused by some students. Because of the recent behaviour in the toilets, the 5/6 toilets had to be closed one day this week.
Some of our ideas are:
- Toilet buddies (picked by your teacher)
- Not taking rubbish and food into the toilets with a bin just outside
- Bathroom passes
- Painted signs (So you can’t pull them down)
- Maybe toilet supervisors
- Presentation at Assembly / assembly chat
- Mini lessons in classrooms
We also heard that Mrs Wood is worried about the recent costs and the budget rise for wasted toilet paper over the past 5 years. This extra money that has been spent on cleaning and repairing the toilets, could have been spent for a whole new playground for the school.
Please talk about this at home with your child/children and tell us if you have any more ideas to help our toilets and remind them to show our school values in the toilets. This is for all our toilets, not just the senior ones.
Kind regards: SUP leaders, Carly Macdonald, and David Garner
