Volunteers at St Joseph’s

Volunteering at St Joseph’s Primary School

At St Joseph’s we greatly value the support and contribution of our volunteers. The involvement of parents, carers, family members, and community members helps foster a strong sense of community within our school. Your support is vital in the successful running of many school programs, events, excursions, sporting activities, and community celebrations throughout the year. Children love seeing their parents, carers, and family members involved in school life, and this involvement strengthens their sense of belonging, connection, and engagement within the school community.

As part of the new Victorian Government child safety obligations and compliance requirements, all volunteers are now required to attend a Volunteer Induction Session before volunteering in any school-based activities. The induction provides important information regarding child safety, volunteer responsibilities, school policies, and expected standards of conduct. These requirements support the ongoing implementation of the Child Safe Standards and help ensure that every child at St Joseph's experiences a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.

Once completed, the induction will remain valid for the calendar year. Moving forward, Volunteer Induction Sessions will be offered at the beginning of each school term to ensure all volunteers have the opportunity to meet these requirements. Next term, we will also endeavour to provide an online option to offer greater flexibility and accessibility for families wishing to volunteer throughout the year.

Volunteer activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Excursions and incursions
  • Sports days, carnivals, and school events
  • Parents and Friends Association activities
  • School Advisory Council participation
  • Fundraising and community events
  • Assisting with special programs and celebrations
  • Any other school-based volunteer activities

Our next Volunteer Induction Session will be held on Thursday, 11th of June at 2.45pm

We sincerely thank you for your willingness to support our students and school community. If you have any questions regarding the induction process or volunteer requirements, please contact Georgie Carman via email;  georgina.carman@sjmalvern.catholic.edu.au
