Let Jesus Shape How You Live

Jesus knew what was coming. He lived an extraordinary life - spending time with all kinds of people, teaching about God and performing miracles. But He also knew His path would lead to the cross. He carried something we can barely imagine - the weight of the world’s sin. Every wrong choice, every mistake, every failure - He took it all on Himself.

As 1 Peter 2:22–24 (MSG) says:

“He suffered everything that came His way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step…He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing.”

So what should we do with this freedom?

I’ve recently come across the thought that, “Love is a noun. Play is a verb.” We were made for joy. Children naturally love to play, imagine and explore. That’s not by accident - it reflects how God made us. But as adults, I can’t help but feel that we don’t play that much and, at times, take things too seriously.

Deep down, we were created for a life filled with joy and wonder. Play helps bring joy back into our world. Taking time to play, laugh and enjoy life reminds us of God’s goodness and helps us see the world with fresh eyes again. It also gives our freedom purpose. Freedom isn’t just about ourselves. It’s about how we treat others. We are free to love, to serve, to forgive and to show kindness - just like Jesus did.

As 1 Peter 1:3–5 (MSG) reminds us:

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him… Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for…and the future starts now!”

This Easter, don’t just remember what Jesus did - let it shape how you live.

Trust Him each day.

Follow His example.

Love others well.

Remember the hope of new life.

And simply play.
