As always, we love catching up with news from our former Collegians.

Confirmation Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral 

Last week saw some of our Old Boys whose children attend St Justin’s Primary School and Good Shepherd Primary School, Wheelers Hill, attend their children’s Mass for their Sacrament of Confirmation. The Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Peter Comensoli at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, and concelebrated by Father Andrew Madry, CR, the Parish Priest and Fr Jean-Sebastien Gery, the Assistant Priest of these combined Parishes in Wheelers Hill. This Mass was well-attended by our Old Boys, our current Mazenod students, and their families, friends and Parishioners. 

Frank Bau, RIP (Foundation Class of 1972) – Funeral Details

It is with great sadness that the Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association (MOCA) announces the death of Frank Bau (MOC1972).

Frank was a student in Mazenod College’s Foundation Class of 1972.

Frank’s funeral will be held on Monday, 25th August 2025, at 12.30pm in the Boyd Chapel at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery, Princes Highway, Springvale.

Frank’s younger brothers, Dennis (MOC1974) and Laurence Bau (MOC1977), his nephews, Daniel Bau, RIP (MOC2007) and Adam Bau (MOC2009), as well as his brother-in-law, Peter Campbell (MOC1979), are all Mazenod Old Collegians.

We pray for Frank’s Soul. May Almighty God grant Frank His Eternal love, peace, mercy and joy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Frank’s family and friends. 

May Almighty God strengthen and console all of Frank’s family and friends in their grief.

May Almighty God grant Eternal Rest to Frank, O Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon him. May Frank’s Soul Rest in Peace. Amen.

Mazenod Old Collegian (MOC 2021) Law Graduate: Employment Wanted

“I am a recent law graduate looking for legal work. In particular, I am looking for graduate roles or roles that are functionally similar, such as a paralegal role. I would also be open to legal assistant roles if it were not solely administrative. My experience includes working as an administration assistant and a collections officer in a debt recovery firm, as well as shadowing and conducting legal research for barristers. Furthermore, while I have experience in debt recovery and possess a particular interest in both criminal law and administrative law, I am open to roles in any area of law. Work Experience Wanted

My name is Thomas Macdonald. I am passionate about working in HVAC and I am looking for experience in this area. I have had a great interest in it for many years. I have extensively watched videos online, learning as much as I can about air-conditioning systems. In my spare time I play around with old air-conditioners and motors. I pull them apart and see how they work and like to see what different components do. My academic record is strong, especially in Mathematics and Science. 

I am hoping that you can assist me with two aspects of experience that I require. I am looking for an SBAT (School Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship) in Refrigeration/HVAC to start in 2026. First, I must complete 5 days of Year 10 Work Experience in Refrigeration/HVAC. I would like to complete Work Experience as soon as possible (excluding September School Holidays 18/9 to 5/10, I am going on a family trip overseas). I am looking forward to learning more about this industry from qualified people.

Up to now I have completed 5 days of Work Experience in electrical work, but I must complete 5 days of Work Experience in Refrigeration/HVAC so that I can participate in SBAT in Refrigeration in 2026.

Bracelets for sale in Support of the Oblate Seminarians in Bangladesh

Many of our Old Boys might be looking to buy religious bracelets as gifts for their family and friends. These bracelets are the perfect gift! They have been hand made by our very own Fr Dominic Rozario OMI, our College Chaplain, and he has blessed them, too! They are for sale at $15 each.
