Swinburne Taster week

Across week 9 of this term, a group of students from year 10 participated in the Swinburne TAFE taster week. Two groups of students got to explore trades, and one group was looking into allied health services. Below is a recount from a few of our students in attendance across the two courses:
Trade Taster
Last week we attended the Swinburne Tafe Tasters.
We spend 4 days exploring different trades they were Electrical, Welding, Bricklaying and Carpentry.
My favourite days were Electrical and Carpentry. I loved being able to learn new things and the hands-on learning. The trainers at Swinburne were awesome, next we will take part in industry days where we get to out our new skills on a job site.
If you get the chance I would highly recommend it!

Allied Health Taster
Last week, we went to Swinburne University to get a taste of what studying Allied Health and Childcare would be like. We did lots of fun and interesting activities, including learning how to correctly use crutches and getting dressed in protective gear such as gowns, masks, face shields, gloves and goggles. We also made slime as a childcare activity while learning about what messy play is and how it can help children learn and develop. It was a fun experience and gave me a better idea of what these careers could be like.
Even the Staff had fun on excursion!
