Learning Conversations

A reminder that our Learning Conversations in Term 3 are being held on Tuesday August 4th. This will be a student free day.

Year 1

The Year 1 learners have been proudly creating the illustrations for our book, Hello Echuca-Moama!. They have eagerly researched local landmarks and carefully produced detailed, vibrant artworks that showcase the unique features and beauty of our community. Their creativity, attention to detail, and pride in their learning have been evident throughout our Inquiry.

In addition, the learners have thoughtfully crafted informative sentences about their chosen landmark in Echuca. They have demonstrated great care in sharing interesting facts and important details, developing their ability to communicate information clearly while deepening their understanding of the places that make Echuca special.

Year 6

How People Live, Belong and Connect

Year 6 has enthusiastically begun our new Inquiry unit, How People Live, Belong and Connect. Before exploring the cultures, traditions and experiences of people around the world, we have been learning about ourselves and what shapes our own identities.

Students have loved creating their family trees, exploring their family history and recognising the people and experiences that have helped shape who they are today.

We also created Identity Icebergs, which encouraged students to think about the difference between what others can see on the surface and the many important parts of our identity that lie beneath.   Through sharing their icebergs, students discovered new things about one another, developing a deeper appreciation that everyone has a unique story, and that belonging begins with understanding and valuing both ourselves and others.

It has been a wonderful start to the unit, with students already showing curiosity, empathy and respect as they begin this exciting journey of exploring identity, culture and connection.
